Find your stopcock: myths about where it hides, busted
The most common thing we hear on an emergency call-out is that the homeowner did not know where their stopcock was, often because of a wrong assumption about where it should be.
Every house has its stopcock under the kitchen sink.
That is the most common spot, but in older Royal Harbour townhouses it can be in a downstairs cupboard, under the stairs, or near where the main visibly enters the building. Check yours today rather than assuming.
If a stopcock has never been touched, it will still work fine in an emergency.
Stopcocks that are never operated can seize, particularly on older properties. Test yours once a year, turning it fully off and back on.
